Drumming

My main instrument is drums. I have been drumming since I was a small child, but I started taking drumming seriously about 5 years ago. My current setup is a Tama imperialstar with Evans Calfskin heads on the toms and Genera Dry on the snare. I have a Zildjian K Sweet Ride 21" and an A custom crash 19". For hats I have Meinl Classic Custom Dark Hihats 14", but I'm hoping to get new ones soon. I mainly specialize in jazz drumming but I play any style of music.

Music Production

My other specialty is in music production and songwriting. I work in many different genres but usually just make whatever I'm inspired to make. Below are some of my original compositions, covers, and remixes (will be updated more as I release more of my music).

Animaru

🎵 Mei Semones - Animaru

Indie Rock/Jazz Fusion

Animaru blends jazz-fusion with the sounds of modern indie flawlessly. The opening track, "Dumb Feeling" sets the tone for the album incredibly well. It begins with a beautiful jazz guitar intro, followed by a classic jazz samba, which morphs into a dynamically beautiful orchestral indie rock groove. Not only does this set the tone for the album sonically with it's dynamic contrast and blatant jazz influence, but also lyrically with Semones singing beautifully in both English and Japanese. One thing that this album excells in, but is also it's biggest flaw is the consistency between songs. The album has a theme and sticks to it, which makes for an overall great experience. However, due to the instrumentation remaining relatively stagnant in between songs, I noticed my ears becoming fatigued by the end of the album. Other than that, the songwriting is incredible. Semones' singing is great and a pleasure to listen to. Some standouts on this album are "I can do what I want", "Dumb Feeling", and "Zarigani". Overall I rate this album an 8/10. I think with a little more refinement, Mei Semones will be one of the best indie jazz artists on the market.
